Jose Mourinho has agreed personal terms to become manager of Manchester United, according to widespread reports.
The 53-year-old was widely tipped to take over the reins from Louis van Gaal following the Dutchman’s sacking on Monday and a deal is edging ever closer.
It’s expected Mourinho, who worked with Van Gaal at Barcelona, will be announced as United boss in the coming days after the length of his contract and salary were agreed.
Discussions, involving United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, as well as Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, are still taking place over image rights issues.
There are numerous complications where both parties are tied into separate commercial partnerships but these will likely be resolved.
