Jose Mourinho: It’s a special honour to be named Manchester United manager

Jose Mourinho says it’s a special honour to be named Manchester United manager after the Portuguese signed a three-year deal with the club.

The 53-year-old was sacked by Chelsea in December and he’s rejected numerous job offers in the hope that he would replace Louis van Gaal.

The Old Trafford giants dismissed the Dutchman on Friday and moved quickly to secure Mourinho on a three-year deal – which has an option for a further year.

Mourinho’s managed at the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan in the past but he says the Red Devils have a special aura and he can’t wait to get started at the club.

To become Manchester United manager is a special honour in the game,’ said Mourinho.
